WE ARE TRYING TO BE SELF SUFFICIENT
Mar 11th, 2009 by CaptainB
A charity activity is very very good thing to do but it is not correct if we are depending the activities based on donations and effortless upon making it into a self sufficient body. Yes we are welcoming donations or others to help but we can not rely fully on them.
Here is another effort that our orphanage is doing. We want our orphanage children to learn some thing new such as an entrepreneurship and at the same time we can generate some income for the orphanage. Since some time back we have been trying to make some 25 rooms to help out the university students who are studying at the near by campus ( university of Cendana ( ” Undana University” ). Yes we have done it and we were hosting some 10 of hem before and some more will be joining at that time. BUT after 3 months we decided to stop our effort to help them by giving them a cheap and comfortable place for them to stay because after 3 months most of them are not paying the rental fee and so many things were missing including the light bulbs. It is a common thing for them to buy their own water but at that time for the period of 3 months none of them were buying water for their own need.
After closing the place for the students to rent we were using the premises to host some 16 wonderful students from Singapore upon doing their school projects , it was great for the place to be useful and suit its purposes. From there gradually we are making the place better and better and after some 2 years of ” slow” renovation , we are soon ready to make the place as a home stay for the public. It is only as a matter of few weeks we will officially open the home stay . Our targets are those passengers which are using the ” Eltari Airport” in the morning or who came at the very late evening flights. The airport is about 10 minutes at the most from our place. At this stage we are only waiting for the generator’s shelter to be completed then we can placed the generator properly and start running the home stay to the public used. Each room is about 4 x 4,5 meter and equipped with an indoor bath room and air conditioning.
The name for this home stay will be Christati , it is the short form of Christine , Tassya and Christian ( our children) . We are hoping that this home stay will be able to help us to generate an income which will be able to support some of the orphanage’s funding needs. With some income from this home stay and our status as sufficient rice from our own farm , we are confidence that one day we will be fully self sufficient upon funding the orphanage and its activities including paying the school fees for the children and other needs. Praise The Lord for providing me a job so that my salary can finance that is required to build this home stay. I hope that it will be running well as what we are expecting to be .
