THE GOOD LORD HEARS YOU LOUD AND CLEAR

water is gooood

this is the glorious time to all of us when we are able to have this water source of our own

It is true and it is still happening: THE LORD IS GOOD and HIS LOVE IS CONTINUOUSLY FLOWING without end. He continues to bless and equip us with what is required for the many situations we find ourselves in.

It was a Saturday evening in July that Peggy and I were on the phone with each other (I was in Singapore and she was at the orphanage). We began with praising the Lord for blessing us with a good water truck through our friends Lay Kean (and her friends), brother Alex Chee and his friend Kate Park, and brother Oetojo. Indeed we were so happy and so blessed that we were able to buy a brand new water truck to fulfill our water needs for the last few years. My wife and I were so blessed for the orphanage to be able to live with clean water everyday, and for the children to stay healthy.

As we discussed the water truck, we acknowledged that in about 5 years time we might need to do a major overhaul on the water truck, since it is used so heavily. We agreed that we must have a plan set in place, and we began to consider drilling for water on the orphanage grounds. To drill for water would be expensive: about USD $24 000 – $25 000. The drilling cost itself is around USD $6000 for a drilling job of around 70 M deep. The submersible pump is around USD $3 600 to $4000 and a generator for bringing the water up from such depth is around USD $11 000. The labor cost and the water tower are around USD $3000-$4000. We knew that we would need to start saving right away. I told my wife that I had some seed money and that every month we could add to it depending on how efficient we were, and if we could find ways to cut costs. So we prayed about it and decided to start saving. (I should mention that we had previously tried eight years ago to find a water source at the orphanage. We dug manually for 37 meters but were unable to find water).

The next afternoon (a Sunday) at the orphanage while Peggy and the children were doing some activities, 3 gentlemen showed up. One was from Bandung, one from Cirebon and one more from Medan. We had never met them before, and we were unknown to them also. It was such an amazing situation of total strangers meeting up. One of them had actually heard about Roslin Orphanage on the televesion. The 3 of them were on their way back to Jakarta and only had time for a short visit.

Incredibly, the conversation was around water supply, and our friend from Bandung told us that he wanted to give water to the orphanage. Peggy was so overwhelmed because our friend from Bandung was asking how we could keep on using the water truck for a long period of time. He knew that we could not keep using the truck forever. He agreed with Peggy that the orphanage needed it’s own water supply from the ground. This was amazing because it was exactly what Peggy and I had been discussing the night before.

Our friend from Bandung offered us his help to drill for water at the orphanage – and he was willing to pay all costs. We were so overwhelmed again by the fact that God had sent us this unknown messenger, who would be an answer to our prayers. Something that we thought would take 5 years had been shortened to ONE DAY. This was only possible because God was involved, and nothing else. Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, and Praise the Lord.

From this happy situation we inquired at the local government’s office if they could help us to drill. A government employee who claimed to be willing to help us gave us a ridiculous proposal of USD $80 000 just to drill for water. It is a shameful thing. Indeed and I have no idea what this person was thinking about. May the Good Lord give him mercy and wisdom.

Peggy later was asking around and met her good friend who had just finished drilling water for herself. Peggy asked her to see if she could get a good price for us. The Lord has been so kind to us on leading us towards good friends, Praise The Lord. Thankfully the person who does the water drilling was so kind and offered to drill for TWO water sources at the orphanage but for the price of only ONE. Praise The Lord. In fact, we really did need two holes, one at the orphanage and one at our home stay nearby. How did this person known that we needed two holes? In addition to this, this drilling man helped us to buy our equipment at almost the cost’s price, which allowed us to have our own water sources at both locations. Praise The Lord indeed.

If this is linked to the Scriptures, please look up Isaiah 58 : 10-11 and may be more to Isaiah 65 : 24.

Indeed we are looking after orphans and The Lord made things possible according to what has been written to us.

Indeed The Lord is hearing us loud and clear so that what we need is being provided to us without any delay. Praise The Lord for sending us our friend from Bandung to the orphanage. Blessings from above have been poured out to us via His instrument(s), and in His time. Thank you Bandung brother for being His instrument and doing His work at our orphanage.

Now our water truck is no longer needed for bringing water to the orphanage, but we are now able to give water to others with it. The best part is when someone is having a function (wedding etc) we are so happy to be able to give a truck of water as our gift.

The drilling process was not that easy because of the solid corral in the soil. Just to place the drill machine itself took a whole day, while the piping and submersible pump placement were also delicate tasks. All of the equipment was purchased from Surabaya. We are so thankful for the successful drilling site on the first go, and we found good water at around 70 meters deep. Sometimes the drilling might take a few trials, or have even greater depths, but we were so blessed to find water on the first try. Praise The Lord. The drilling was completed in 5 days time.

Because of this abundant water at our own location, we are now able to plant our own veggies regardless of the weather. Again we are so thankful for being able to eat organic veggies of our own, thus bringing the orphanage closer and closer to self-sufficiency. Currently we have lots of eggplant, spinach, long beans, corn, chili, basil leaves, and many more.
