My Rotary club ( www.rotaryeclub3310.org , C:\Users\User\Desktop\club Board Members 01.mht) and Rotary Club of Armadale, Perth , Australia , Rotary Club Belait of Brunei, Rotary Club Bukit Timah of Singapore are doing the proposed Matching Grant together. It is simply a " train the trainers" program. It was initiated by our Rotary friends Past President Irvin and Past President David Jenkins. From the plan Rotary Club of Armadale was represented by Margaret Heather and Janine McLeod to come and do a research with us in Kupang in April. From there a solid plan was made and we are already getting a file number from The Rotary Foundation. We are now waiting for the approval to conduct the proposed program. If it is approved the programs will be held at our orphanage and or at our home stay ( depending how large the attendance will be). Indeed our main focus is nothing else but enhancing education for the people in West Timor. Comparing the educational matters with Java Island , West Timor must do a lot of catching up. All in the facilities, the quality of the teachers and the teaching materials. Nowadays it is common that few whole school students in West Timor having 100 % failure upon doing the secondary school and high school final tests. It is really shocking facts and it made us so sad. We wish we can do more for the schooling children. The materials are usually from Jakarta ( HQ for the country's education board) and many of the subjects are not known by the West Timorese students. This is the fac that we must improve and it is not an easy job to do. Surely this is one of the factor why this Nusa Tenggara Province remains as the poorest province in Indonesia. Basically without a proper education we can not progress far enough. PROPER EDUCATION IS A MUST.
We wish that Peggy and I are able to do more for the schooling children.
