VISITS BY SPECIAL FRIENDS

Special visit by special friends

We are so blessed for having the visit by special friends recently. Praise The Lord. One of them was Mr Alex Chee, a former (favorite) station manager for Singapore Airlines. Bro Alex is part of the history that established us here in Timor. He was the one who assisted us when we made our first trip to the refugee camps back in 1999 from Singapore to Atambua ( the refugee camps of East Timor refugees of which there were some 150 000 people living in the camps). Beacuse of Mr Alex we were able to carry 897 Kg of goods to be brought by the airlines for free all the way from Singapore to Jakarta( then by the ship to Timor). This is the 3rd time for bro Alex visiting us . Indeed we were so privileged to have him here again. Thank you bro Alex for your visit to the children. Because of you our history in Timor being made so colourful.

Along with Mr Alex were ibu Lianny Hendranata and her magician son , Andrean Hendranata. The orphanage children were so lucky to have been given such a motivational talk and encouragement by ibu Lianny. She is a national motivational speaker in the country. Ibu Lianny has published so many books of which many profits were donated to charity. She is currently in the process of publishing her 8th book.

To Andrean , thank you for the super great magic show. Many people must go out , que and pay for their tickets upon seeing a magic show. Somehow you came to the children and brought the magic show to them. Thank you, we really appreciated all the preparations and the superb show. On behalf of the children, " terima kasih sekali".

Another special person who recently joined us is bro Yoseph Wijaya. Not only he is from my hometown , Jogjakarta but he has been a dear friends to so many people. Peggy and I were so thankful for having him during our relief trip to the Merapi volcano eruption back in Oct 2010. Because of his contacts we were able to buy and get so many needed items easily ( http://www.roslinorphanage.org/wordpress/praise-the-lord-for-the-safe-trip). Indeed it was our privilege to have him as he is a very busy (and sleepless) man and loving man of which currently he is in the period of building 7 hotels across Indonesia. Thank you for visiting us and being with children so much when you were with us. Thank you also for the precious keyboard for the children to help with their singing and encouragements to learn better and better. With this keyboard the children will be able to get the tunes correctly. Terima kasih bro.

Bro " meneer" Andreas Van Der Linden also with us on this trip. We are so privilege to be able to lay the first stone for the kindergarten foundation on this trip. So much have been happening and the kindergarten project has been delayed for more than one year. We are hoping that we will be able to do it for at least the foundation first. The rainy season is coming again and if we can not put the roof on time or if it is within the rainy season , it is best for us to delay again till the rainy season is gone.

Right after these 4 wonderful friends left us , we were also blessed by a visit by another 4 wornderful friends. Sis Diong , bro Alex and bro Larry Chua came all the way from Singapore and sis Sally from New Zealand. This time we were so blessed with such a group who were coming with intention of making a real sweat and a real muscle activities. The name of the game is sweating and they got it . We are so blessed that we are being made capable to renovate the old orphanage building. In the past we were only having a limited space to do so many things . In the past we were able to look after 10 or more babies in a small rooms and now those babies are between 9-11 years old already. This time the old rooms are being demolished and being made into a better facilities. We are in the process of it and for that reason we were having so much rubbles to be cleared. It is so coincident that the mighty 4 friends were coming visiting us. Their visit was full of dust , sweat and dirty clothes everyday without failed.
