OUR FARM IS IN PROGRESS AND OUR SELF SUFFICIENCY IS GETTING CLOSER

ONE DAY SOON WE WILL HAVE THIS BANANA EVERY DAY FOR THE WHOLE YEAR
Some of you may remember about our banana farming project . Indeed it has been delayed and delayed and delayed. So much of uncertainties about the weather and people's need for them self. We were depending so much on doing the land clearing by at least 10 - 15 people so that we can create jobs to them but when they were about to come , the told us that their villages in the mountain side was having a good rain so they canceled their appointment with us and they were doing their farming at their home town instead. It was 3 times already like that and we cannot wait anymore. Since 7 days ago , Peggy , my wife has been leading the orphanage children and renting a heavy equipments to do the land clearing. It is been done for most of the " new " farm and some more instead. We are doing a land clearing to some of the " jungle look" land that we have into a good and clean farming area. The 2,5 hectares of land is dedicated to be the banana farm first then later we will also have a shelter for the cows and goats at the same location. Indeed the progress towards making us self sufficient is in the making. Give us 2 years period and we will hopefully able to pay most of the children school fees from this farm. It will be a joyful day if we can make it into a reality.
Today we have cleared some 5 hectares including two dams to control the water flow during the wet season. We are hoping to clear more land area in few more days time. We are so thankful that we do not have to buy the excavator and renting it instead. An excavator will cost around USD 120 000 while for renting is some USD 400 plus 200 liters disel fuel and the labor cost , All in all about USD 500 per day. At the moment we are preparing to make the fences of which it can take some months to do it. We will start planting the banana trees in 2 or 3 weeks time. Come and join us one day upon planting the trees and also come when we are starting to do the harvest ( about 10 months to a year depending the banana types).
